What
if I am not a swimming coach,
but a learn to swim instructor?
SwimAmerica
wants the world's best teachers working in its system, so regardless
of whether
you have coached or not, if you are a swimming instruction professional,
you can apply
to become a SwimAmerica Director. There will be a few additional prerequisites
you will need
to meet... you must join the American
Swimming Coaches Association and you must take
and pass our Level 2 Stroke School. The membership keeps you up to date
and current in all aspects of competitive
swimming, and The Stroke School is the best resource in the world today
to learn about how to teach world class swimming strokes. If you're
a swimming instruction professional, we encourage your interest and
application to become a Program Director for SwimAmerica.
Please
be aware SwimAmerica Licensees
must comply with the following requirements:
1.
You must maintain your yearly ASCA membership, which is currently
$70 a year.
2. You must be an ASCA Level Two Certified Coach. If
you are not, you must take the Level 2 Home Study Course. This course
is currently $45.
3. All coaching staff must have their own SwimAmerica coaching
manual. This manual is currently $23.95.
4. You must use the SwimAmerica Award system. Every
swimmer must receive a SwimAmerica certificate on the first day of lessons
(.90 each). A roll of stickers for the certificates is $18 for a roll
of 1,000. Station #10 stickers are .20 each.
5. If you cannot be on deck at all times during lessons,
you must have a site supervisor on deck actively directing each lesson.
The training fee for site supervisors is $300. They must maintain ASCA
membership and take the Level 2 home study course.
6. If you are using uniforms, it is required that you
use SwimAmerica approved uniforms for staff and swimmers.
7. If you are using station signs, it is required that
you use SwimAmerica approved station signs for safety purposes.
8. It is required that all SwimAmerica program directors update
their license yearly. Licenses are updated by attending the
SwimAmerica Conference at the World Clinic or by purchasing the SwimAmerica
Conference audio tapes and submitting a written test.
9. Retaining a SwimAmerica license is subject to meeting requirements
listed above in 1-8.
